USC Track and Field Posts Strong Showing at Franson Last Chance Meet

The Trojans will head for Big Ten Championships starting Friday

AZUSA, Calif. — The USC track and field team was well represented across hurdles, sprints, jumps and distance at the Franson Last Chance Meet at Azusa Pacific University. The Trojans fell short of personal bests by small margins in their respective events.

DAY ONE
The hurdles squad kicked off the day with three Women of Troy in the 100m hurdles. Asjah Atkinson led all Trojans coming in second place out of prelims with a time of 13.48. Lillian Harden clocked the same time to slot in right behind Atkinson.

Jackson Norris represented the field events over at long jump. His best mark of 7.41m (24-3.75) came on his fifth jump, securing eighth place but narrowly missing his outdoor personal best of 7.43m.

Chase McCallum closed out the day for the Trojans in the 800m. He ran a strong 1:49.69 to place 17th.

DAY TWO
Dajaz DeFrand won the women's 200m as the sole Trojan competing on the second day. Her wind-aided time of 22.58 is a new season best and leads the Big Ten this season.
