Oct. 29, 2014
USC's women's cross country team will compete this weekend at the 2014 Pac-12 Cross Country Championships hosted by California at the Metropolitan Golf Links in Oakland, Calif. The women's 6K race, which will feature a course of three clockwise loops, is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. on October 31. A tape-delayed broadcast of the meet will air on the Pac-12 Network on Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. with Jim Watson providing play-by-play and Dwight Stones adding color commentary.
The Trojans will be sending a seven-woman team of seniors Erica Capellino and Kira Soderstrom, juniors Katerina Berdousi, Reika Kijima and Jenna Tong and freshmen Emma Kao and Jessica Lesser. Capellino, Soderstrom, Berdousi and Tong bring with them experience of having run at the Pac-12 Championships.
The Pac-12 Conference is widely regarded as the toughest conference for cross country in the nation with No. 3 Oregon and five other teams ranked in the top 30 in No. 7 Colorado, No. 11 Stanford, No. 17 Washington, No. 22 Arizona State and No. 29 UCLA. If the competition will not be challenging enough, nine of the 12 teams have entered 10 or more runners.
