Oct. 13, 2016
The USC women’s cross country team with compete at the 2016 Highlander Invitational (5K) at the UCR Agricultural Operations Course in Riverside, Calif. on Oct. 15 at 8:30 a.m. USC is expected to compete against a field comprised of teams from include Long Beach State, UC Irvine, CS Fullerton, CSUN, Pepperdine, SDSU and host UC Riverside.
“This is one of our final tune-ups before the championship season begins, which has been our focus this year,” said USC cross country coach David Freeman. “Hopefully we have been getting better each race and getting our race strategy down to get ready for the Pac-12 Championships.”
“We ran this course earlier in the season, though that was a 6K instead of 5K, but they are used to the course and I look to see if they make adjustments from the first race,” added Freeman. “ This will also be a smaller field than the first race at Riverside and hopefully they use that for their advantage.”
USC’s next scheduled meet is the Titan Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. on Oct. 21, but there is a chance that they may not compete again until the Pac-12 Championships on Oct. 28 in Tucson, Ariz.
