Sophomore Jenna Tong led the Trojans at the NCAA Inter-Regional Jamboree (5K) hosted by Sacramento State at the Haggin Oaks Golf Course in Sacramento, Calif. today (Oct. 4).

Tong finished the 5K course with a PR of 17:48 to finish tops among Trojans and 46th overall. Her time was a 16-second improvement over her previous best 5K time of 18:04.3 set at the 2012 UC Irvine Invitational. Tong has been one of USC's top three finishers in every collegiate cross country race, this time leading the group for the first time.

Conversely, junior Erica Capellino, the Trojans' second finisher in 94th place with a time of 18:28, had been USC's top finisher in every regular season meet since the 2011 season.

The third Trojan to finish was sophomore Nicole Davies with a time of 19:03, good for 123rd place. She was followed by junior Erin Matranga in 141st place with a time of 19:37, senior Lindsay Enright in 149th place with a time of 19:59 and junior Austin Lundin in 151st place with a time of 20:09.

UCLA won the team competition with a score of 77, while USC had a team score of 475. Next week the two squads will square off in a dual meet on Oct. 11 in Pasadena, Calif.
