One of the five freshmen runners USC brought to the Pac-12 Championships and she finished 105th with a time of 23:18...She was a Dean's List student as a freshman. HIGH SCHOOL: Byrne is a 2011 graduate of Newbury Park High in Newbury Park, Calif... She ran both cross country and track for the Panthers...Had a season-best three-mile cross country time of 18:38.85 to place third in the Marmonte Cross Country Finals...Won the varsity 1500m race at the 2011 Santa Barbara Easter Relays with a time of 4:51.44...Posted a PR of 11:09.69 to place fourth in the 3200m race and a season-best 5:03.66 to place second in the 1600m race at the Marmonte League Championships on May 6...Had a season-best time of 2:20.47 in the 800m at the Arcadia Invitational...Has PRs of 2:18 in the 800m and 5:00.49 in the 1600m. PERSONAL: Shannon was born on July 27, 1993 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada...She has one brother, Jonathan...Her hobbies include skiing, snowboarding and being a volunteer high school cross country coach...Lists her favorite athlete as Roger Bannister because he was the first man to break the 4-minute mile barrier...Is a Business Administration major at USC....After USC would like to work as a management consultant or investment banker...Volunteers as a youth track coach, a Sunday School teacher and for the Joint Educational Project, a service learning organization at USC. |
