USC will be well represented this week in international women's water polo action when six Trojans compete with the U.S. Women's National Team in the 2006 Holiday Cup, held Dec. 6-10 at the USA National Training Center in Los Alamitos, Calif. At the close of the tournament, U.S. head coach Guy Baker will announce the official roster for the 2007 World Championships. USC's Patty Cardenas, Kami Craig, Erika Figge, Brittany Hayes, Moriah Van Norman and Lauren Wenger are all in line to make that final cut.

All six Trojans helped Team USA toward a gold-medal finish at last summer's FINA Super Final. Hayes was listed as an alternate for the World Cup, having competed in the early stages of the FINA World League to help the team on to gold at the Super Final. Cardenas, Craig, Figge, Van Norman and Wenger also moved on to play with the national team at the 2006 FINA World Cup in China.

The Holiday Cup will also serve as a homecoming of sorts for former Trojan Sofia Konoukh, who has been a mainstay on the Russian national team through two Olympic Games. USC's other Olympian at the Holiday Cup is Bernice Orwig, who is an assistant coach for Team USA.

The six Women of Troy begin action with Team USA tonight (Dec. 6) in a 7 p.m. clash with Canada. The rest of the Holiday Cup schedule will go as follows:
