    Aug. 11, 2016

USC’s five-woman contingent in Rio made a splash for their teams today, particularly netting big efforts in wins for Team USA and Spain.

The U.S. women were up against China today, and received a pair of goals from first-time Olympian Kaleigh Gilchrist, while Olympic vet Kami Craig hammered in one score for Team USA in its 12-4 victory.

At the end of the day, another NCAA champ — Anni Espar — served up two goals for Spain in a crucial 11-10 win over Hungary.

USC’s current goalie Victória Chamorro checked into the cage for host team Brazil today, collecting eight saves in a final 14-7 loss to tough team Russia. Also taking a loss today was Australia, who has NCAA champ Hannah Buckling in the mix. The Aussies were edged out 8-7 by Italy.
