Flora Strikes Three - Another MPSF Newcomer of the Week Award

    March 21, 2011

USC freshman goalie Flora Bolonyai was clutch again in a tight and important game for the Trojans, and has since earned her third pick as the MPSF Newcomer of the Week.

Bolonyai accumulated 12 saves in USC's 5-4 overtime win at Hawai'i, including two during overtime. Bolonyai had entered the week averaging 7.8 saves and 6.2 goals-against per game. Her 12 saves was just one off her career high, and each stop was crucial in the Trojans' down-to-the-wire victory. USC improved to 3-1 in MPSF play with the road win over the Rainbow Wahine.

It's the second consecutive MPSF Newcomer of the Week honor for the Trojan freshman, and her third this season as she has stayed a powerful force in the cage for USC in her first season at Troy.

Bolonyai and the Trojans are now back in California, hosting a 5 p.m. Friday (March 25) matchup with Maryland before heading over to LMU at 12 p.m. on Saturday (March 26) for more nonconference action.
