Melissa Bergesen Named MPSF Player of the Week|
March 3, 2015
Melissa Bergesen had a big day for the Trojans, providing the difference for USC in an 11-7 win at No. 5 UC Irvine with a four-goal game against the Anteaters last weekend. For her efforts, the junior transfer has picked up her first career selection as MPSF Player of the Week.
En route to her four-goal day, Bergesen would score a goal in each period to help push USC along to the road victory, which improved the Trojans to 14-1 overall. Bergesen had entered the game averaging 1.6 goals per game before her four-goal effort pushed her to now stand as USC's fourth leading scorer on the year with 26 goals.
The Women of Troy are now lined up for their home opener this weekend. No. 3 USC will host No. 2 Stanford at 2 p.m. on Sunday (March 8) in a Pac-12 Networks broadcasted MPSF matchup at Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
