    Jan. 16, 2015

The USC women's water polo team opens its 2015 campaign ranked No. 3 in the nation, holding strong to the place it finished last season's NCAA Tournament. These 2015 Women of Troy boast two returning All-Americans in seniors Eike Daube and Monica Vavic and sophomore Stephania Haralabidis.

Daube and Vavic, along with junior Jayde Appel, already have one NCAA Championship ring as members of the 2013 roster that won it all two seasons ago. Now, that crew has a powerful pack of young talent to help drive them in 2015. In all, there are 14 new faces on the Trojan squad this season.

No. 3 USC Captures 23rd Win Of 2014 With 22-3 Victory Over Bakersfield
The No. 3 USC women's water polo team bounced back from a tough loss with a roaring effort in today's action at the MPSF Tournament at Uytengsu Aquatics Center. The Women of Troy got down to business quickly and powered on for a 22-3 win over No. 7 seed Bakersfield behind a searing six-goal effort from freshman Stephania Haralabidis and 12 saves in three periods of work by USC's all-time saves leader Flora Bolonyai. The victory improves USC to 23-3 overall on the year as it now turns to take on No. 5 seed San Jose State tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. in the fifth-place game.

It all begins this week, with a doubleheader set for Saturday (Jan. 17). The Trojans will open season with clashes against Bakersfield and Cal Baptist that afternoon in a one-day event held at UCLA's Spieker Aquatic Center in Westwood. USC will face Bakersfield first at 4 p.m., followed by a 6:20 p.m. face-off against Cal Baptist.

This early-season action will serve as a tune-up for the Trojans, who went 26-4 overall last season with a run to an 11th consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, where USC finished third. After this weekend's games, the Women of Troy will return to action next month with a trip to the Triton Invitational in La Jolla from Feb. 7-8.
