STOCKTON, Calif. -- The USC women's water polo team took fifth place at the MPSF Championships with a 3-2 victory over UC Santa Barbara on Sunday at the University of Pacific.

Junior goalie Bernice Orwig was named to the All-Tournament first team, while sophomore 2-meter player Selah Mapes and freshman 2-meter player Jennifer Durley made the honorable mention team.

In the fifth-place game, the Gauchos took a 2-0 lead in the second quarter and had a 2-1 lead entering the final period. But the Women of Troy tied it up, and junior driver Kellie Clarke scored the game-winner with 1:55 left. Orwig had 14 saves.

USC is now 16-13 this season. The West Regionals are next, on April 24-26 at Stanford, where the Women of Troy will try to qualify for the National Championships, which USC will host on May 8-10.
