LOS ANGELES - Aniko Pelle scored eight goals Sunday to lead the No. 3 USC Trojans to a 16-3 victory against the UC Irvine Anteaters in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action at McDonald's Swim Stadium. It was the final home match of the 2001 season for the Women of Troy and for three seniors: Kendra Browne, Kimberly Comacho and Jennifer Durley.
The Women of Troy (18-3, 8-2) took a 7-2 lead at halftime and outscored the Anteaters, 5-1, in the third period. Nina Wengst scored three goals as Sofia Konoukh and Katrin Dierolf added two goals each. UCI fell to 1-17 overall and 1-7 in MPSF play.
USC will compete in the Long Beach State tournament next weekend.
