Women's Water Polo Falls to Stanford|

LOS ANGELES -- A fierce defensive effort ended with a 3-1 victory by the No. 2 Stanford women's water polo team over No. 7 USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation contest at the McDonald's Swim Stadium on Thursday afternoon.
The Women of Troy, who ended their regular season with the loss, fell to 13-11 overall and 3-6 in the MPSF. The Cardinal improved to 15-3, 7-1.
Stanford scored all three of its goals in the first quarter, two by sophomore driver Suze Gardner. USC finally got on the board in the fourth quarter with 5:11 left in the game on a goal by freshman 2-meter player Jennifer Durley.
The goalies for both teams were stellar, as USC junior Bernice Orwig and Stanford junior Heather Crary had 11 and 10 saves, respectively.
USC next heads to the MPSF Championships on April 10-12 at the University of Pacific.
