LOS ANGELES - Sandra Milicev scored with 1:03 remaining in regulation and the No. 3 USC Trojans upset the No. 1 Stanford Cardinal, 7-6, in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action at McDonald's Swim Stadium. Milicev broke the tie after Stanford's Brenda Villa scored with 1:53 remaining.
USC improves to 17-2 on the season and remain in first place with an 8-0 MPSF record. Stanford suffered its first loss of the season and is now 12-1 overall (4-1 in MPSF play).
The Women of Troy took a 3-1 lead after the first period, but the Cardinal rallied with three goals in the second for a 4-4 tie at halftime.
Senior All-American Nina Wengst led all scorers with three goals for the match.
"We put a good game together today," said USC head coach Jovan Vavic. "This is a real confidence builder for the team."
USC will host UCLA next Friday (April 5) at 3 p.m. in another MPSF match at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
