LOS ANGELES, CALIF. -- The No. 3 USC women's water polo team spread out its scoring attack with goals from seven different scorers in a 7-3 win over visiting Long Beach State tonight at McDonald's Swim Stadium. USC senior Nadia Dan delivered her 100th career goal along the way, helping USC to a nonconference victory that improves the Women of Troy to 13-3 overall on the year.

The Trojans had to force their way out of a one-goal margin on three occasions as the 49ers kept closing the gap in the first half of action. Both goalies stayed stingy down the stretch as well, keeping scoring at a relative minimum as USC's Flora Bolonyai finished with 10 saves and helped hold Long Beach State scoreless in the fourth period of play. Long Beach State's Kelly Ringel had a big second half, hauling in 12 saves in the last two frames to finish with 14 in the game, but it was the Trojans' well-rounded scoring attack that kept USC in the driver's seat.

After Long Beach State tightened it up to a 3-2 USC advantage early in the second period, the Trojans responded with goals from Chelsea Silvers and Blair Moody before Bolonyai put a stop to a late 49er 6-on-5 to get USC a 5-2 lead at halftime. A slider from Long Beach State's Heather McKeon opened the second half and put the score at 5-3 USC, but the Trojan defense would allow no more 49er goals for the next 15 minutes of play. Meanwhile, USC cracked Ringel's stubborn stand in the cage with goals from Nadia Dan -- her 100th career goal as a Trojan -- and a blast to the corner pocket from Patricia Jancso to wrap up a 7-3 win for USC.

The Women of Troy now set up for a quick trip to Arizona to take on No. 4 ASU on Saturday (March 24) for an MPSF matchup at 12 p.m. before turning around to return to McDonald's Swim Stadium for a Sunday (March 25) clash with No. 7 LMU at 1 p.m.
