LOS ANGELES - The No. 3 USC women's water polo team registered two routs Saturday in first day action at the UC Santa Barbara Gaucho Tournament. The Women of Troy recorded a 17-2 win over Michigan and a 10-2 win over San Jose State.
Sophomore Katrin Dierolf recorded five goals while junior Sofia Konoukh added four goals in the win against Michigan. USC held Michigan scoreless after scoring twice in the first period.
In the Trojans' second match, Dierolf and junior Nina Wengst led with a team-high two goals. USC held San Jose State scoreless in the second and third periods, building a 9-1 lead after three periods.
USC (8-0) will face Stanford in third-round action Sunday. The winner of the match will face the winner of the UCLA-Cal match in the tournament championship match.
