Feb. 18, 2012
RIVERSIDE, CALIF. - The No. 2 USC women's water polo team grabbed two more wins today in the second stanza of the Lancer Invitational, topping host Cal Baptist 12-3 before posting an 18-6 win over Concordia. The Women of Troy improve to 7-1 on the season as they bring home four straight wins this week in the action in Riverside, Calif.
Nadia Dan was the hot-handed Trojan on the day in leading USC with back-to-back hat tricks. She joined Kaleigh Gilchrist's hefty four-goal outing against Cal Baptist to open the day as USC amassed an 8-1 lead on the Lancers by halftime on the way to a 12-3 win. Flora Bolonyai was the Trojan goalie in that one, picking up five saves for the USC defense.
USC would turn around and get right back to action in taking on Concordia next. Dan punched up another hat trick along with fellow senior Kara-Leigh Huse and sophomore Olivia Cummins as the Trojans racked up nine goals in each half of play. Eleven different Women of Troy hit the back of the net in the 18-6 win, while Morgan Vickers anchored the cage and tallied six saves in the victory.
USC now returns to Los Angeles to prep for the Trojans' home opener this week. USC hosts Hawai'i in a 5 p.m. clash on Thursday (Feb. 13).
