TEMPE, ARIZ. - The No. 3 USC women's water polo team locked down on its hosts on Sunday afternoon in Tempe, Ariz., allowing only a single goal through the first three periods of play on the way to a solid 11-5 win over No. 8 Arizona State. Michelle Stein led the Women of Troy in scoring for the second straight game, dumping in three goals with seniors Miranda Nichols and Veronika Bartunkova each powering in a pair to help get USC to its second MPSF win. USC is now 6-2 overall and 2-0 in MPSF play.

ASU may have managed an upset of the Trojans in a previous meeting this season, but USC made no mistake about putting away the Sun Devils early this time in ASU's home pool. USC got up 1-0 in the first period before blasting in four goals in the second period. That was where the Sun Devils would manage their only goal of the first three periods, as USC took a 5-1 lead at halftime and then ballooned ahead 8-1 by shutting out ASU in the third period.

With the game solidly in hand, the teams matched each other in the final period, as the Sun Devils managed four goals to USC's three to round out the game for an 11-5 Trojan victory.

USC's next competition comes at the UC Irvine Invitational, which will run next weekend in Irvine, Calif.
