SANTA BARBARA -- On an overcast Saturday afternoon, the UC Santa Barbara women's water polo team fell to USC, 12-5, in their home and Mountain Pacific opener at the UCSB Campus Pool.
USC jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The Trojans were lead by Sofia Konoukh with 5 goals scored. The leading scorer for the Gauchos was Teresa Gorbett, with 2 goals.
The Women of Troy will host Long Beach State in an MPSF match Sunday (Feb. 18) at noon at McDonald's Swim Stadium. It will be USC's first home match of the 2001 season.
