SAN DIEGO -- The USC women's water polo team Sunday defeated Cal Baptist, 10-1, and UC Santa Barbara, 11-4, to win the UC San Diego Arena NoGrip Tournament. Nina Wengst led the Women of Troy (4-0) with 10 goals over four matches.
The Trojans opened Sunday's action by taking a 7-0 halftime lead against Cal Baptist. Sofia Konoukh and Aniko Pelle scored two goals each.
In the championship match, the Women of Troy held a 9-2 advantage after three periods. Wengst socred a team-high four goals followed by sophomore Katrin Dierolf, who had three goals.
USC will travel to UC Santa Barbara on Saturday and will make its 2001 home debut at McDonald's Swim Stadium against Long Beach State at noon.
