USC Women's Water Polo Drops Game to San Diego State

The University of Southern California women's water polo team fell to San Diego State in a double overtime battle today, 7-5. The Trojans were led by Selah Mapes and Nicole Masrtin, who each had two goals. Sophomore Kellie Clarke had the other Trojan goal.
USC jumped out to a 2-0 first period advantage on goals by Martin and Mapes. But the savvy of the Aztecs was revealed in the second period, when two goals by Nicole Federspiel and one by Larisa Baltgalvis had SDSU take a 3-2 lead. Clarke tied it at three for the Trojans in the third, and the game's final period was a mad, scoring frenzy. Martin and Mapes matched goals with Aztec's Federspiel and Sara Hanneman in the fourth period, anmnd the game eneded in a 5-5 tie. The first overtime saw no scoring, but Hanneman added another and Shae Philpott scored in the second overtime to give the Trojans a 7-5 loss.
The Trojans return to action on Febuary 14 against Hawaiin at 12:00 p.m.
