THIS SEASON: Browne, a backup goalie the last two seasons, enters her 2000 junior year as the starter.
COACH VAVIC SAYS: "Kendra was the third goalie last year. She has always wanted to be the starter, and she has that opportunity now. She has done a good job in training and I think she's ready to step in and do a good job this year."
1999: One of USC's backup goalies as a 1999 sophomore, Browne saw action in eight games and made 12 saves. She had a season-high three saves against Pacific.
1998: Browne backed up starter Bernice Orwig at goalie as a 1998 freshman and appeared in seven games while recording 26 saves. She had a career-high six saves against Princeton.
HIGH SCHOOL: Kendra earned MVP honors at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, Calif., as both a sophomore and senior, and was the team captain as a junior and senior. As goalie, she had 217 blocks one season. She was also named the team's Most Inspirational Player. Browne also played for the Orca national team. She served as Mater Dei's Athletic Commissioner.
PERSONAL: Browne enjoys playing golf, reading and spending time with friends. She is majoring in psychology at USC. She lists her sports heroes as Jackie Joyner-Kersee and former USC teammate Bernice Orwig (now a Women of Troy assistant). Her birthdate is Nov. 18, 1978.
