Top-ranked and defending national champion USC did not skip a beat, defeating third-ranked Florida, 3-0 (31-29, 30-17, 30-25), to open the 2003 season. With the win, the Women of Troy advance to the championship match of the NACWAA/State Farm Volleyball Classic on Saturday, Aug. 22, and will face either second-ranked Hawai'i or No. 15 Kansas State. USC 3, Hawaii 0 ... Aug. 23, 2003
The top-ranked USC women's volleyball team captured the 2003 NACWAA State Farm Volleyball Championship by defeating second-ranked Hawai'i, 3-0 (30-22, 30-26, 31-29), on Saturday in Honolulu. The Trojans swept both tournament matches to start the year 2-0. USC's 3-0 wins over both Florida and Hawai'i marked the first-ever NACWAA Tournament sweep.

USC 3, Pepperdine 0 ... Sept. 3, 2003
Following a banner dropping ceremony in celebration of last year's national championship, the No. 1-ranked USC women's volleyball team (6-0) capped off Tuesday evening with a 3-0 (30-26, 30-18, 30-19) victory over No. 8 Pepperdine at the Lyon Center. In front of 840, the Women of Troy notched their fourth victory of the season over a top 10 opponent. The Waves gave the Women of Troy their biggest challenge yet. Pepperdine took the first lead in game one and climbed its way to a four-point advantage, 25-21, by distributing attacks to all sides of the court. Though never far behind, the Trojans began to battle back and forced the Waves to take a timeout at 25-24.

USC 3, UCLA 1 ... Sept. 19, 2003
Thanks to career-high performances from middle blocker Emily Adams and setter Toni Anderson, the No. 1-ranked USC women's volleyball team defeated crosstown rival No. 9 UCLA, 3-1 (30-21, 22-30, 30-19, 30-22), in front of 2,003 at Pauley Pavilion on Friday night. With the win, the Women of Troy improve to 10-0 (1-0 in the Pac-10) this season and earn the first 5-of-10 possible women's volleyball points for the 2003-04 Lexus Gauntlet - a season-long competition that awards points for each Bruin-Trojan head to head contest throughout the year.

USC 3, Stanford 0 ... Oct. 17, 2003
April Ross led an outstanding hitting display as the No. 1-ranked USC women's volleyball team defeated No. 7 Stanford, 3-0 (30-17, 30-21, 30-23), in front of 3,549 at Maples Pavilion on Friday night. The victory marked the Women of Troy's seventh sweep over a ranked opponent this season. With the win, USC improves to 17-0 overall and 8-0 in the Pac-10, while Stanford falls to 14-4, 7-2 in conference play. The Trojans entered the record books for the second-consecutive outing by hitting .545 for the match - a mark that ranks third among all-time USC records. The Women of Troy tallied 69 kills to the Cardinal's 48, while out-blocking Stanford, 9.0 to 4.0.

USC 3, Cal 2 ... Oct. 18, 2003
It took an unbelievable effort, but the No. 1-ranked USC women's volleyball team defeated No. 5 California in front of 2,313 at Haas Pavilion on Saturday night to keep their 30-match win streak alive and improve to 18-0 this season (9-0 in the Pac-10). With the victory, the Women of Troy also recorded the program's 300th conference win. Cal, who lost to UCLA on Friday to put an end to its undefeated record, falls to 16-2 overall and 7-2 in conference play.

USC 3, Stanford 1 ... Nov. 14, 2003
With career-high performances from Keao Burdine, Bibiana Candelas, Nicole Davis and Toni Anderson, the No. 1-ranked USC women's volleyball team defeated seventh-ranked Stanford, 3-1 (27-30, 30-13, 30-18, 30-18) in front of 1,537 on Friday night at the Lyon Center. With the win, the Women of Troy clinch sole possession of the 2003 Pac-10 Conference championship. The Trojans improve to 25-0 overall and 16-0 in conference play, garnering their second-consecutive Pac-10 title, and the program's sixth conference title overall. The Cardinal fall to 19-6 overall and 12-4 in the Pac-10.

USC 3, UCLA 0 ... Nov. 21, 2003
The top-ranked USC women's volleyball team capped a perfect Pac-10 season with a sweep over No. 8 UCLA (30-20, 30-24, 30-22) in front of 1,893 fans on Friday night (Nov. 21) at the Lyon Center. The victory kept USC's umblemished record intact, as the Women of Troy improved to 27-0 overall and 18-0 in the Pac-10. It is the first time USC has gone unbeaten in Pac-10 play (and was just the eighth time any league team has done so, but the first since 1997). The win is USC's 12th over a ranked team this season (all in the top 13), as well as its 38th consecutive victory dating back to last season and its 16th consecutive home win.

USC 3, New Hampshire 0 (NCAA 1st Round) ... Dec. 5, 2003
The top-seeded USC women's volleyball team defeated New Hampshire, 3-0 (30-17, 30-18, 30-17), on Friday night in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Championships in front of 889 at the Lyon Center. The Women of Troy now advance to the second round to face 15th-ranked Loyola Marymount on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m.
Loyola Marymount defeated Cal State Northridge in the earlier match, 3-0 (30-21, 30-22, 30-26).
Junior middle blocker Emily Adams led the Trojans with 12.5 points thanks to a match-high nine kills and five blocks. Sophomore middle blocker Bibiana Candelas also had an outstanding performance, hitting .538 thanks to seven kills off of 13 attacks and no errors. Senior libero Nicole Davis led with 13 digs.

USC 3, LMU 0 (NCAA 2nd Round) ... Dec. 6, 2003
Four players contributed double digit scoring as the No. 1-ranked USC women's volleyball team defeated 15th-ranked Loyola Marymount, 3-0 (30-16, 30-22, 30-16), in the NCAA Second Round played at the Lyon Center on Saturday night. With the win, the Women of Troy advance to the regional semifinal at Lincoln, Neb., and will face 24th-ranked and 16th-seeded Texas A&M on Friday, Dec. 12, at 4:30 p.m. CST. Loyola Marymount concludes its season with a 26-7 overall record. The Trojans improve to 31-0, keeping their 43-match win streak alive. USC is now just one win shy of tying the NCAA record for consecutive matches won (Penn State holds the current record with 44 straight wins in 1990).

USC 3, Texas A&M 0 (Regional Semifinal) ... Dec. 12, 2003
The top-seeded USC women's volleyball team (32-0) collected its 44th consecutive victory by defeating Texas A&M 3-0 (30-26, 30-25, 30-27) in the NCAA Regional Semifinal on Friday afternoon at the University of Nebraska Coliseum.
With the win, the Women of Troy tie Penn State's NCAA record of consecutive matches won and will have the opportunity to break the streak when they face UCLA in the Regional Final on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 7 p.m. The winner of Saturday's regional final advances to the NCAA Final Four next week in Dallas, Texas.
Having already faced and fallen to the Trojans this season, the Aggies (23-10) were energized for the match as a supportive Big 12 crowd stood behind them. The enthusiasm kept them in the match, never allowing USC to lead by more than seven points in the three games.

USC 3, UCLA 1 (Regional Final) ... Dec. 13, 2003
Senior April Ross led with 19 kills as the top-seeded USC women's volleyball team defeated crosstown rival UCLA, 3-1 (24-30, 30-26, 30-17, 30-17), on Saturday night at the NU Coliseum to win the NCAA Central Regional. The Women of Troy now advance to the Final Four in Dallas, Texas.
With the victory, USC broke the NCAA record for consecutive wins, which was previously held by Penn State (Aug. 31, 1990, through Dec. 7, 1990). The Women of Troy, who improved to 33-0 on the season, have won 45 straight contests dating back to Nov. 2, 2002, when they lost in five games to Stanford at home. USC has also won 34 consecutive matches on the road and will face the winner of the Long Beach West Regional between Washington and Minnesota.

USC 3, Minnesota 0 (NCAA Semifinals) ... Dec. 18, 2003
Keao Burdine had 13 kills and 10 digs as defending champion USC defeated Minnesota 30-27, 30-28 and 30-20 Thursday night to advance to the finals of the NCAA women's volleyball championships. The Women of Troy will face either Hawai'i or Florida on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 2:30 p.m. CST.
USC (34-0) struggled to win the first two games of the match and had to score the final three points of the second game after Minnesota led most of the way. Burdine scored the game's final point on a kill from the left side. It was one of her six kills in the game.
The Women of Troy won the first game despite blowing an early eight-point lead. USC had opened up a 19-11 lead, but the Gophers went on a 12-3 run, scoring seven straight points off the serve of setter Lindsey Taatjes to go ahead 23-22. USC rallied to score eight of the game's final 13 points and won 30-28 on a kill by April Ross.

USC 3, Florida 1 (NCAA Final) ... Dec. 20, 2003
Keao Burdine had 23 kills and 17 digs as Southern California won its second straight NCAA women's volleyball championship with a 3-1 victory over Florida on Saturday.
The Women of Troy (35-0) became the first repeat champion to go undefeated and extended their NCAA-record 47-match winning streak. It's the school's sixth national championship overall and third NCAA title.
Burdine led a balanced attack as April Ross and Bibiana Candelas each had 14 kills and Emily Adams added 10 kills as USC won the match 25-30, 30-27, 30-19, 30-26.
The last three losses for the Gators (37-2) have come to USC.
Florida coach Mary Wise was attempting to become the first women's coach to lead her team to the NCAA title.
Aury Cruz led third-seeded Florida with 18 kills and 18 digs. Jane Collymore had 15 kills and Jacque Robinson 14.
