LOS ANGELES: Samantha Bricio of the women's volleyball team and Nikola Vavic of the men's water polo team were named USC Student-Athletes of the Week for Dec. 2-8.

Women's Student-Athlete of the Week: Women's volleyball sophomore OH Samantha Bricio led the Women of Troy to a pair of 3-0 wins over New Hampshire and Cal State Northridge and helped the Trojans to their 10th appearance in the NCAA regional semifinals in the last 13 years. Bricio had 26 points and scored 18 on kills (3.00 kps) while hitting .405. She also added six service aces (1.00 kps) to total 80 on the season and matched the third-best single-season mark in Pac-12 history. She had four aces against the Wildcats to mark the 12th time that she has had at least three in a match this season. She also posted her ninth straight match with at least one ace and has had just two matches (out of 33) in which she has been held without a service ace. Bricio was also all over the place on defense as she put up 17 digs (2.83 dps) and had three blocks (one solo).

Men's Student-Athlete of the Week: USC senior Nikola Vavic tallied four goals, including the overtime winner in a 12-11 victory over Pacific as the Trojans took home their unprecedented sixth consecutive NCAA title over the weekend. The Trojans were down by two goals in the fourth period, but Vavic scored one of the Trojans' final three goals in regulation as things went to overtime deadlocked, 11-11. Neither team scored a goal in the first OT period, but in the second period, Vavic netted his fourth goal of the game a minute into the overtime period to put the Trojans up, 12-11. The USC defense, anchored by senior goalkeeper James Clark kept the Tigers out of the back of the net to secure the victory. Vavic also tallied two goals in the team's semifinal victory over St. Francis Brooklyn, giving him six goals on the weekend as he was named to the NCAA All-Tournament First Team. Vavic closes out his USC career with 254 career goals as the Trojans' all-time scoring leader. He also finished this season with 81 goals, tying him for second amongst the Trojan single-season scoring leaders.
