LOS ANGELES -- USC senior setter Alice Pizzasegola (Rivergaro, Italy) was named to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 8 Volleyball Team on Thursday, Nov. 3. The all-district teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Pizzasegola holds a 3.44 grade-point average and will graduate in May 2017 with a degree in international relations. She is one of just six student-athletes from NCAA Division I schools to be selected to the District 8 team and is joined by Clare-Marie Anderson (Hawai'i), Amy Boswell (BYU), Maggie Eppright (Fresno State), Maddy Kerr (California), and Mary-Kate Marshall (Oregon State). There are 51 Academic All-District NCAA Division I student-athletes overall.

All Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third- team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

District 8's NCAA Division I classification is made up of eight western states including Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawai'i, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, and the country of Canada.

Pizzasegola is a two-time Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention selection (2014 and 2015) and was a member of the 2013 Pac-12 All-Freshman team. She has been one of USC's starting setters since she arrived on campus in 2013 and has accumulated 2,436 career assists (12th all-time in program history). Pizzasegola also has 564 digs and 43 service aces in her career.
