    Madden and Bricio Named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week

    LOS ANGELES – Senior tailback Tre Madden and women’s volleyball senior Samantha Bricio were named USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Aug. 31-Sept. 6, on Monday, Sept. 7.

    USC CREDIT UNION MEN’S STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
    After sitting out last season with an injury, Tre Madden returned to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum leading the Trojans’ rushing attack with 106 yards in the 55-6 route over Arkansas State. The redshirt senior was also on the receiving end of an 8-yard touchdown from quarterback, Cody Kessler, who found Madden out of the backfield with a clear path along the sideline on his way for a score.

    Madden also surpassed a personal milestone in the second quarter with a career-long 65-yard touchdown run. Overall, Madden finished with 121 all-purpose yards on his way to being named Trojan of the Game with his fifth career 100-plus yard performance. The Trojans are next scheduled to take on Idaho at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, (Sept. 12) at 5 p.m. PT.

    Also nominated for men’s student-athlete of the week: Cody Kessler (football) and Blake Edwards (water polo).

    USC CREDIT UNION WOMEN’S STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
    Samantha Bricio showcased a dominating performance at the UNI Invitational on her way to earning tournament MVP. The senior outside hitter led the Women of Troy to a trio of 3-0 sweeps including a victory of No. 10 Kentucky. Against the Wildcats, Bricio powered through with 11 kills and 13.0 points to earn the Trojans a spot in the UNI championship.

    In the championship match against Northern Iowa, Bricio put away the Panthers with 11 kills and three service aces. The Women of Troy have now won 17 consecutive sets and remain undefeated in their 2015 campaign. Bricio was also named Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week, following her performance at the UNI Invitational. The Trojans return home to Galen Center on Thursday, (Sept. 10) to host the USC Classic.

    Also nominated for women’s student-athlete of the week: Katerina Berdousi (cross country).

    The USC Credit Union Student-Athletes of the Week are voted on by the student assistants and Sports Information Directors of the USC Sports Information Office. Nominations are compiled and distributed for voting by Alec Koondel. Student assistant voters include, Andrew McKagan, Eike Daube, Tera Novy, Carlene Jones, Kiia Brantley, Dru Chavez, Rachel Dobrin, Mariya Dondonyan, Meagan Manahan and Brett Warner.
