Former Trojan Nicole Davis and the No. 1-ranked USA women's volleyball team continued to roll through the preliminary round competition at the 2012 London Olympics by posting a 26-24, 25-16, 31-29 victory over No. 3 China on Wednesday (Aug. 1).
The victory guarantees that the Americans will advance on to the Round of Eight elimination play, even with two pool play matches remaining. The USA is seeking its first-ever gold medal in women's volleyball.
Davis had a match-leading 24 digs while starting again at libero.
Davis, who helped USC capture the 2002 and 2003 NCAA titles, is appearing in her second Olympics. She and her USA teammates won a silver medal at the 2008 Games in Beijing.
The USA team next faces No. 7 Serbia on Aug. 3 at noon (PT) in Group B preliminary round action.
