Former Trojan volleyball standouts April Ross and Tri Bourne both posted wins this past Sunday (July 6) at the AVP Milwaukee Open.

Ross joined with her partner, Kerri Walsh Jennings, to defeat the team of Lauren Fendrick/Brooke Sweat, 15-21, 21-16, 15-13. It was the fifth win of the season for Ross and Walsh Jennings, who became teammates in the middle of last season. The Olympians (Ross won silver in 2012 and Wash Jennings has won golds at the past 3 Olympics) have now won a pair of AVP events in 2014 (the other was in St. Petersburg) as well as three FIVB events this season (in Fuzhou, China, Moscow, Russia and Stavanger, Norway). Ross was an All-American on USC's 2002 and 2003 women's indoor volleyball NCAA champs and she won the sport's Honda Award in 2003.

Bourne teamed with 41-year-old John Hyden to post a 21-15, 21-18 victory of Phil Dalhausser/Sean Rosenthal in Milwaukee. The win was the second this year for the duo, who started their partnership late last year, as they also captured the FIVB tourney in Berlin, Germany, in June. Bourne, a native of Hawaii who was the 2013 AVP Newcomer of the Year, was a member of USC teams that were the NCAA runnerup in 2009 and finished third in 2011 when he was a senior.

Ross and Bourne each shared the $7,500 Milwaukee purses with their partners.
