USCTrojans.com caught up with Alex Jupiter, who talked about her freshman season last year with the women's volleyball program.

USCTrojans.com: How did you enjoy your freshman season?
AJ: I absolutely loved my freshmen year, it was just so exciting and I learned so much about myself throughout the season.

USCTrojans.com: What was the biggest difference at playing at the college level?
AJ: The college level is so much more challenging than high school or club volleyball. We play against very good players, elite players for most, it is constantly challenging. I learned to always give 100% on the court because at college level, players do not give up.

USCTrojans.com: Was there one thing that surprised you the most about yourself last season?
AJ: I surprised myself when the first time I took a lot of pride when I would say "I play for USC." I never had that feeling before and didn't think that it would happen to me. I truly enjoy being in the Trojan Family and like anything I am part of, I defend it.

USCTrojans.com: What is your favorite part about playing in the Pac-10?
AJ; The high level of competition was amazing, it was like a constant opportunity to get better. I also loved the fact that people could watch me on TV.

USCTrojans.com: What do you like most about the USC team?
AJ: I love the fact that we see each other as family. I can't wait for the new freshmen to come so that they can be part of the family too. I also feel like all of us have a good bonding with our coaches and don't think that many teams have such a good relationship between players and coaching staff.

USCTrojans.com: What was it like playing your first matches on TV in front of a huge crowd? (AVCA Showcase in Omaha, Neb.)
AJ: Playing in front of a television crowd made me nervous, but playing in front of a crowd was absolutely amazing. Seeing fans, children getting excited when we smile at them or when after a long rally we get the point was just amazing. It is definitely the thing that I miss the most from the season.

USCTrojans.com: What will you work on the most this spring?
AJ: I will work on my serve, my consistency and my physical strength. I want to work on my consistency in all areas of the game.

USCTrojans.com: What do you want to do this season as a sophomore?
AJ: I want to show improvement. I want the fans to see from their own eyes how hard we worked and that we have improved a lot. My ultimate goal is to win the national championship in my sophomore year.
