LOS ANGELES - The USC women's volleyball team has sent four players to the USA Volleyball open tryout for the U.S. Women's National Team at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Senior middle blocker Hannah Schraer, junior middle blocker Kiara Wright, and sophomore outside hitters Ebony Nwanebu and Elise Ruddins will each participate in the highly competitive tryout set for Feb. 21-23.

248 athletes representing 106 colleges and universities will tryout for spots on the U.S. Women's National Team and/or the U.S. Collegiate National Teams program (formerly known as the Senior A2 Teams). Among the tryout participants are 63 liberos, 61 outside hitters, 60 middle blockers, 35 setters, and 27 opposite hitters. The Women of Troy are four of 40 players from Pac-12 teams.

Three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer Karch Kiraly and the U.S. Women's National Team staff will lead the tryout process. Selected athletes will be notified in March. USA Volleyball will announce the selections by the end of March once all roster sports are accepted and confirmed.

New this year, USA Volleyball will stream the tryouts live via its website beginning on Friday (Feb. 21) at 1 p.m. PT. To follow the tryouts with exclusive content, follow USA Volleyball's feeds on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and use the hash tag #usavtryout.

There are 27 athletes among the participants who have already completed their collegiate eligibility including USC sand volleyball All-American Stevi Robinson. Those athletes will be evaluated for potential spots on the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team. Athletes with remaining collegiate eligibility will be evaluated for the U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team as well as the U.S. Collegiate National Teams program.

The U.S. Collegiate National Teams program has two different options if selected. USA Volleyball will have one U.S. Collegiate National Team of 12 athletes and two coaches travel to China June 13-27, 2014, for a series of training sessions and matches in conjunction with a separate team representing the Pac-12 Conference.

The second option for the selected U.S. Collegiate National Team is training and participation at the 2014 USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships (GJNC) held in Minneapolis. A projected 36 athletes will be invited to participate in the program with training beginning on June 22, 2014, followed by the competition portion June 26-30. U.S. Collegiate National Teams will compete against each other while serving as inspiration for junior athletes competing in the GJNC on what the next level of competition is like in college.

The Trojans finished third in the Pac-12 with a 16-4 mark in league matches and received the sixth seed in the NCAA tournament. USC made its 23rd consecutive (31st overall) appearance in the NCAA championships and advanced to the regional championship match for the fourth straight year. The Trojans finished with a final record of 29-6 following a hard-fought five-set loss to third-seeded Pac-12 champion Washington at the Galen Center.
