Jan. 12, 2013 LOS ANGELES - The USC women's volleyball program celebrated the 2012 season with its annual awards banquet on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Galen Center Founders' Room. The Women of Troy completed the year in third place in the Pac-12 (15-5) with a 30-6 overall record after advancing to the NCAA Austin Regional title match where they fell to eventual national champion Texas. It was USC's fourth regional final appearance in six years; the program's ninth since the NCAA tournament expanded to include 64 teams in 1998. The Trojans and their supporters and fans enjoyed brunch service and were treated to season review slide shows, videos, and speeches. Three-time USC All-American and Olympic beach volleyball silver medalist April Ross was the banquet's guest of honor and gave a special keynote speech. Junior libero and two-time All-American Natalie Hagglund was chosen by her teammates to receive the Paula Weishoff Award as the team MVP. Hagglund also received the Nicole Davis Award as the team's best digger. Freshman outside hitter Samantha Bricio also took home a pair of awards; the Keao Burdine Award for most points scored, and the April Ross Award as the best server. Senior All-American outside hitter Katie Fuller was chosen for the Sue Woodstra Award as the team's best attacker while junior outside hitter Sara Shaw was selected as the best passer and received the Debbie Landreth Award. Junior middle blocker Alexis Olgard was named the best blocker and was awarded the Emily Adams Award. Sophomore middle blocker Hannah Schraer received the Patti Bright Award, also known as the Spirit of Troy award, and sophomore setter Hayley Crone was chosen for the Debbie Green Award. Senior defensive specialist Erin Yoder received the Coaches Award. With spring volleyball around the corner, the Trojans will begin preparations for a run at the 2013 NCAA championship. USC and the Galen Center will host one of four NCAA regional championships in December where one team will be sent to the championship finals in Seattle, Wash., at Key Arena. 2012 WOMEN OF TROY AWARDS
