No. 9 USC Sweeps Cal State Northridge

LOS ANGELES--The No. 9 USC women's volleyball team, led by junior middle blocker Jasmina Marinkovic's 12 kills and an overall potent offense that hit a season-high .406, defeated Cal State Northridge, 15-5, 15-9, 15-8, in a non-conference match in front of 589 at the North Gym on Tuesday night. USC improved to 6-0 while Northridge fell to 6-2.

In addition to Marinkovic, freshman outside hitter Antoinette Polk had 10 kills and hit .386 as USC hit no lower than .344 in any of the 3 games. The Women of Troy, which also got 8 kills from both junior outside hitter Jennifer Kessy and junior middle blocker Alaina Kipps, outblocked Northridge 12-2, including 6 from Marinkovic. The closest the Matadors got in any game was in the finale when they went up, 8-7, against mostly reserves for USC. But the Women of Troy, paced in Game 3 by freshman setter Heidi Munneke's 19 assists, closed out the game for the win.

The victory is USC's 13th in a row against Northridge. USC is in action again on Thursday (Sept. 11) when it travels to San Diego State for a match at 7 p.m.
