    USC Sweeps Past Xavier in Season Opener

    EAST LANSING, Mich. - Jennifer Kessy posted game-highs with 12 kills and 10 digs to lead the USC women's volleyball team to a three-game victory over Xavier in the Goff/MSU Volleyball Classic in East Lansing, Mich. Game scores were 15-4, 15-5 and 15-7.

    The Women of Troy controlled play throughout the contest, posting a hitting percentage of .360 as opposed to just .033 for Xavier. In addition to Kessy, Jasmina Marinkovic reached double figures with 11 kills while hitting a sizzling .526. Antoinette Polk aided the USC defensive effort with 10 digs. Jenny Janszen sparked the Xavier attack with 11 kills.

    USC moves to 1-0 on the season, while Xavier is now 0-1. Both teams will continue tournament play tomorrow.
