    POST-MATCH QUOTES

    USC Head Coach Mick Haley

On how he feels the team’s end-of-season run (4-0) helps position it for the postseason
“We have no idea where the committee is going to put us and we have no idea how they’re going to view the criteria. From our standpoint, we just wanted to win out just so we knew we did everything we could to influence the committee to give us the best seed possible. But after that, we have to beat everybody they put in front of us anyway, so we’ll just take them one at a time.”

    On USC’s performance against Colorado
“I don’t think we were focused at first, and I thought Colorado played very well. They started a little slow, but then they got into a rhythm. A couple of their players were hitting really well, but I thought Taylor Simpson, who had seven kills in the first set alone, was our biggest problem. We just seemed to struggle to maintain and have rhythm and to be explosive the whole day. I think it’s because this is our fourth match in eight days and the seniors were all emotional because this is their last regular-season home match. The parents were here and we did Thanksgiving yesterday. I’m real happy with the 3-0 win but we can play better than that.”

On coaching seniors Natalie Hagglund, Alexis Olgard, and Sara Shaw in their final regular-season match
“I spent most of my time getting after them. I’ll miss them a lot when they’re gone. I think you really start to appreciate people when you go into the huddle and they’re not there. I expect to be here the next two weeks for four more matches, so I don’t look at this as their last match. I really think this team is good enough to win and we want to stay right with it.”
