    LOS ANGELES - Junior All-America outside hitter Alex Jupiter (Paris, France/Redondo Union HS) had 16 kills and five blocks Friday as the No. 6 USC Women of Troy swept the No. 20 Arizona Wildcats (25-14, 25-9, 25-21) in a Pac-10 Conference match at the Galen Center. USC used a punishing defense at the net as the Trojans out-blocked the Wildcats by a 15-1 margin.

    USC improved to 21-4 overall, remaining in third place in the conference with a 10-4 mark. Arizona fell to 18-8 overall, 7-6 in conference.

    The Trojan middle blocking trio of Lauren Williams, Alexis Olgard and Natasa Siljkovic combined for 17 kills with only one error. Williams finished with nine kills and a .615 performance (9-1-13), adding a team-high six blocks. Junior setter Kendall Bateman recorded 34 assists and eight digs as she guided the team to a .365 hitting performance. Freshman libero Natalie Hagglund had 16 digs in the win.

    Hitting errors were the key in Arizona's loss as the Wildcats hit just .010 for the match with 32 kills against 31 errors. UA were negative in the first two sets of the match. Whitney Dosty led the Wildcats with 16 kills (eight of them coming in the third set) with Cursty Jackson chipping in eight kills.

    Marketa Hanzlova made it a 4-1 lead in the first set for the Wildcats, but Jupiter settled the Women of Troy down with back-to-back kills. USC then held a block party with six blocks as part of an 11-2 run as the Trojans took the 14-6 advantage. Jupiter, who had five kills in the set, made it an 18-8 score. UA answered with three straight points, but it was five in a row for the Trojans that put the set away as the Wildcats recorded 13 hitting errors against 11 kills for a negative .056 in the set loss.

    Williams started a 9-1 run to open the second set for the Women of Troy. After Jackson sided out for Arizona, Williams started another run with the 7-2 sprint giving USC a commanding lead at 16-4. Siljkovic capped the set for the Trojans with two kills to send USC into the intermission with a 2-0 lead. USC tried to put Arizona away in the third after opening with a 12-6 lead, but the Wildcats came back with four straight points. Olgard aided the team out of the timeout with a kill, followed by a solo block from Jupiter and service ace from Geena Urango. The Wildcats got within three at 21-18, but Siljkovic hit a kill as the Women of Troy closed out the sweep.

    USC plays its final regular season home match tomorrow against Arizona State, beginning at 7 p.m. The match will be broadcast through a live video webcast on usctrojans.com along with Gametracker live stats. Tomorrow night will be Senior Night as USC honors its three seniors: Urango, Zoe Garrett and Kimmee Roleder.

    Notes: Tonight's 15 blocks were one off USC's season-best of 16, set on Sept. 5 at No. 4 Hawai'i...USC posted six blocks in the first set...Natasa Siljkovic had season-highs for kills (four) and blocks (four)...Falyn Fonoimoana had a season-high three solo blocks...Katie Fuller hit .467 for the Women of Troy, posting seven kills and no errors.
