PALO ALTO, Calif. - Alix Klineman had 15 kills Sunday as the No. 3 Stanford Cardinal swept the No. 7 USC Women of Troy (25-19, 25-21, 25-19) in Pac-10 Conference action. Klineman hit .433 to help Stanford complete the two-match season sweep while adding 11 kills to snap USC's six-match win streak.

Stanford (20-2, 11-2) hit .360 for the match and had strong performances from Cassidy Lichtman (24 assists, six kills, six digs, hitting .312), Hayley Spelman (11 kills, hitting .318) and Carly Wopat (seven kills, hitting .778, two aces).

Sophomore opposite Katie Fuller had nine kills and hit .350 for the Women of Troy (20-4, 9-4) while Lauren Williams posted seven kills and a .385 hitting clip.

In the first set, Stanford snapped a 13-13 tie with a mini 6-2 run with Gabi Ailes putting them ahead by four on a service ace. Williams brought USC within three at 20-17, but Wopat and Klineman chipped in kills as the Cardinal finished the set win. The visiting Trojans hit a match-high .406 in the second set, but it was still the Cardinal that made the key plays for the 2-0 match lead. Klineman and Spelman went back-to-back to break the 14-14 tie as Stanford rattled off seven straight points.

The Cardinal wore down the Trojans with a 10-4 run midway through the third set to finish the sweep and Rachel Williams and Jessica Walker stuffed an attempt from Falyn Fonoimoana.

USC returns home to finish the home portion of its 2010 regular season schedule next weekend. The Women of Troy hosts Arizona on Friday (Nov. 12) and Arizona State on Saturday (Nov. 13) with a 7 p.m. start for both matches and a live video webcast on usctrojans.com.

USC head coach Mick Haley's post-match quotes

"(Stanford) was just better organized and our team didn't play good volleyball today. We didn't reduce our errors and we couldn't do anything in transition. Our defense really hurt us today. We were terrible in the third set with a slew of errors. We couldn't adjust to their ball movement."

"We have to keep working to play better volleyball. We just have to be more disciplined. We just need some fresh air and get back to the gym tomorrow and come back next weekend."
