FORT WORTH, Texas - The third-ranked USC women's volleyball team (11-0) registered its eighth 3-0 sweep of an opponent in the Saturday morning matinee (Sept. 15) of the 2012 TCU Molten Invitational at the University Recreation Center. The Women of Troy took out Lehigh (2-5) in three sets (25-18, 25-14, 25-9) to stay undefeated on the season.

Freshman outside hitter Samantha Bricio had match-high honors with eight kills (1e, 18att, .389) to go with six digs. Senior opposite hitter Katie Fuller had seven kills (3e, 21att, .190) and eight digs while junior outside Sara Shaw added seven kills of her own (1e, 16att, .375) and seven digs.

On second contact, sophomore setter Hayley Crone led all players with 25 assists but fellow sophomore setter/opposite Emily Young got in for 12 assists as well. The Trojans totaled 39 kills (10e, 87att) for a .333 attack percentage and held the Mountain Hawks to a .011 showing (23k, 22e, 95att) thanks in large part to junior libero Natalie Hagglund who led all players with 17 digs.

Amanda Clark spurred the Lehigh offense with seven kills (2e, 19att, .263) while Rachel Charles led the Hawks with 15 digs on the morning.

USC race out to a quick lead in the first set and though the Hawks made things competitive for a moment, the Trojans closed out the first stanza for a 25-18 win. The Women of Troy were rarely threatened the rest of the way and knocked the Hawks out of the air by holding them to a negative .034 attack percentage in the second set (6k, 7e, 29att) and a .000 outing in the final set (6k, 6e, 31att). The Trojans made good on 80 percent of their sideout opportunities in the third set (8 of 10) and earned an impressive 25-9 win.

The Trojans have one more match in the Molten Invitational. They will face Prairie View A&M (2-11) in a 4:30 p.m. local (2:30 p.m. PT) match. If USC wins, it will put its sixth undefeated pre-conference tournament season in the books under head coach Mick Haley. In the previous five times that the Trojans have gone unbeaten in pre-league play, they have advanced to the NCAA semifinal four times. Two of those times, USC won the national championship (2002, '03).
