    Bricio Leads Third-Ranked Trojans to Sweep of Horned Frogs

    FORT WORTH, Texas - USC women's volleyball freshman outside hitter Samantha Bricio provided the necessary firepower for the third-ranked Women of Troy as the Trojans took out TCU (9-2) in three sets (26-24, 25-22, 27-25) at the University Recreation Center on Friday, Sept. 14, in the TCU Molten Invitational.

    The first-year Trojan high-flyer set a new career mark with 19 kills (7e, 44att, .273) and added eight digs and two service aces for 22.0 points against the Horned Frogs. USC moved to 10-0 on the season with the win, but it wasn't easy.

    In one of the closest matches of the season, the Trojans and Frogs matched hitting percentages at .238. USC had 49 kills (20e, 122att) while TCU notched 42 kills (17e, 105att). Both teams also mirrored each other in the block column at eight apiece.

    Senior opposite hitter Katie Fuller had 14 kills (5e, 29att, .310) and seven digs while sophomore setter Hayley Crone put up 45 assists and six digs for the Trojans. Junior outside Sara Shaw contributed seven kills (3e, 24att, .167) and had a season-best 12 digs.

    For TCU, Mattie Burleson led the way with 11 kills (5e, 23att, .261) and Sloane Sunstrum logged 10 kills (1e, 24att, .375). Two Frogs had 10 digs each; Meghan Horio and Megan Munce who also had 32 assists to post a double-double.

    The Trojans are back in action in a 9 a.m. PT (11 a.m. local) match against Lehigh (2-4). The Mountain Hawks took out Prairie View A&M (2-11) in three sets earlier in the day.
