    This Season: An All-American candidate as a 1998 senior, Jennifer Kessy is one of the top outside hitters in the country and one of the most feared attackers in the Pac-10.

    Career: Kessy enters her senior year as USC's all-time leader in kills per game (4.02). She is also fourth in dig average (3.14), sixth in digs (974), seventh in attacks (3,117) and eighth in kills (1,245). She has 37 double-doubles in her career.

    In 1997: A standout junior in 1997, Jennifer Kessy was named to the 1997 KAEPA/AVCA All-District 8 and All-Pac-10 first teams. She also earned the Pac-10's first Player of the Week honor (the third of her career) in 1997 and never looked back. Her 477 kills in 1997 were the second most ever in a season at USC, her 4.50 kill average was the sixth-highest ever and her 1,061 attacks were No. 10 on the season list. In 1997, she led USC in kills (477), kills per game (4.50 - third in the Pac-10), digs (354), dig average (3.34 - second in the Pac-10) and aces (26). Her 84 blocks was also fourth-best on the team. Kessy set a school record with 38 kills in USC's NCAA Tournament second-round win over San Diego (12/6), carrying the Women of Troy to a comeback win despite battling a case of bronchitis. She also had 24 digs and six blocks in the win. She finished with 16 double-doubles on the season. Her 22 kills against Pepperdine (10/15) made her the ninth player ever at USC to reach 1,000 kills. Against Washington (10/24), Kessy had 27 kills and 28 digs and had 25 kills and 13 digs vs. Washington State (10/23). Kessy had back-to-back double-doubles at Washington State (9/26) and at Washington (9/27) with 22 kills and 17 digs and 21 kills and 14 digs, respectively. She posted 18 kills and 14 digs in the win over Colorado (9/7) and had a match-high 16 kills against Arizona State (9/19), hitting a career-high .591 in the match. At Arizona (11/21), she had a career-high 31 digs and 20 kills. She earned MVP honors at the GOFF/MSU Classic (8/29-30) with 54 kills in USC's three wins, including 25 kills against then-No. 6 Michigan State.

    In 1996: Kessy earned All-Pac-10 honorable mention honors for the second consecutive year as a sophomore in 1996. She became the first player to win consecutive Pac-10 Player of the Week honors in conference history when she earned the nods for the weeks ending 10/7 and 10/14. Kessy, bolstered by an off-season conditioning program, had a strong 1996, leading the team with 313 digs and finishing third on the team with 408 kills. She was second on the team in block solos (24) and third in kill average (3.96 -- ninth in the Pac-10) and aces (24). She also led the team in attacks with 1,091 (sixth most ever in a season at USC). Kessy earned her back-to-back Player of the Week honors with strong weekends against the Arizona schools on the road and the Washington schools at home. She had 41 kills, 36 digs and 6 blocks in the 2 wins over the Sun Devils (10/4) and Wildcats (10/6). Against the Cougars (10/11) and Huskies (10/12) she totaled 41 kills and 14 digs and checked in at .493 for her hitting percentage and 6.83 kills per game. In the win over the Cougars, Kessy had a career-high 26 kills and hit .575. She had 21 kills 3 times and had 9 double-doubles.

    In 1995: In her 1995 freshman season at Troy, Kessy started every match at outside hitter, earning a spot on the Pac-10 All-Freshman team as well as an honorable mention pick on the All-Pac-10 team. She finished second on the team in kills to Kelly Kuebler with a 3.56 kill average and 360 kills overall. She was also second to Kuebler in digs (307) and dig average (3.04). Kessy finished with 12 double-doubles and had double figures in kills 20 times. She had a season-high 25 kills at Oregon State (9/29) and had a career-high 27 digs against Washington (11/17).

    In High School: Kessy was selected to the 1994 Mizuno High School All-America honorable mention team and was a Volleyball Monthly "Fab 50" pick as a 1994 senior at Dana Hills High in Dana Point, Calif. This team captain and team MVP logged a team-leading 420 kills during her senior season. She also earned 1994 South Coast League, All-County and second team All-CIF honors. As a 1993 junior, Kessy also competed on her high school swim team and earned MVP honors that year. She was a prep teammate of current Trojan Jeanne Vetter.

    Personal: Kessy is majoring in elementary education at USC.
