Brent Metz begins his fifth season as strength and conditioning coach for the USC women's volleyball program. Based out of the Galen Center, Metz also works with the men's volleyball teams and the men's and women's basketball teams. He has worked with four volleyball Final Four teams while at USC (women's in 2007 and 2010 and men's in 2009 and 2011).
Metz worked at the University of Texas before his current stint at USC, working with the women's volleyball and football teams. During his time in Texas, he worked with seven volleyball All-Americans and 28 football players that would later play in the NFL.
He served as strength and conditioning intern at Fresno State for all 18 sports before his full-time position at Texas after four years of teaching and coaching at Everett Alvarez High School in Salinas, Calif.
Metz graduated from Colorado State in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology and master's in cross cultural education. He spent five years as a biologist, conducting research for Predatory Bird Research Group at UC Santa Cruz.
