2003 Senior Season
In her final season at USC, Kelli Lantz played in 11 matches en route to helping her team to the 2003 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP... She missed the first half of the season while rehabilitating a lower back injury... After playing at middle blocker her first three years, she switched to outside hitter and played off the bench throughout the season... Played her first match of the year against Arizona State on Oct. 10... She made only four hitting errors in 11 appearances, averaging a .476 attack percentage in those outings... Enjoyed her best performance of the season at Arizona State on Nov. 8, hitting .833 in the match with five kills off of six attacks with no errors... Lantz played in two NCAA Tournament games against New Hampshire in the first round (Dec. 5) and Loyola Marymount in the second round (Dec. 6).
2002 Junior Season
Off the bench, Lantz played nine matches for the Women of Troy at middle blocker en route to the 2002 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP... Missed the first six matches of the regular season due to a right ankle sprain... Averaged a .333 attack percentage, 1.08 kills, 0.23 blocks and 1.31 points per game... Had her best outing against Oregon (Nov. 8) when she posted six kills off of eight attacks with no errors for a .750 hitting percentage and contributed 7.0 points.
2001 Sophomore Season
In her second season at USC, Lantz played in 24 matches and 39 games for the Women of Troy at middle blocker... Made two starts against Washington (Oct. 5) and Oregon State (Nov. 20)... She finished third on the team with an 0.87 blocks per game average... Also averaged 1.56 kills and 2.08 points per game... Against UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 18) she posted a career-best three block solos... Had back-to-back error-free performances when she tallied three kills off of four attacks for a season-high .750 attack percentage against Washington State (Oct. 4), then hit .421 against Washington (Oct. 5) with eight kills off of 19 attacks... Collected 11.5 points for the team when she posted a season-best 10 kills against Oregon (Nov. 16)... Set a career high with eight blocks against Oregon State (Nov. 20).
2000 Freshman Season
Lantz played in 23 matches (37 games) and made four starts in her first season with the Women of Troy... Averaged 1.62 kills, 0.57 blocks and a .546 attack percentage... In her collegiate debut against Arkansas (Sept. 2), she had one kill and one block... Made her first career start against UC Irvine (Oct. 3) in place of the injured Jennifer Pahl... She had an outstanding performance against the Anteaters with six kills off of nine attacks and one error (.556)... Made her second and third career starts against Cal (Oct. 19) and Stanford (Oct. 20)... Was unstoppable with a .733 attack percentage (fourth among USC match records) against the Bears, a .556 effort against the Cardinal and committed no errors in either match... Started against San Diego (Nov. 14) for the injured Katie Olsovsky and added 10 kills (.444) and two blocks... Upon entering game two, against Georgia State (Dec. 1) in the first round of the NCAAs, she added seven kills off of eight attacks for a career-high .875 attack percentage.
Lantz is a 2000 graduate of Centennial High in Bakersfield, Calif... A four-year volleyball letterwinner, she was named The Bakersfield Californian 1999 Player of the Year (an honor she also received as a junior) after guiding her team to its second CIF Central Section Division championship... A three-time All-South Yosemite League and two-time league MVP... Named to the Super 75 and Volleyball Fab 50... A three-time all-area selection... As a freshman, she helped lead her team to the Division I state and national championship... The team also garnered the league championship in each of her years... Played club volleyball with Bakersfield Select under head coach Kelly Hardin... At the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions and Las Vegas Tournament, she earned all-tournament honors... Displayed one of her best all-time performances at the 1999 league championship game when she tallied a triple-double with 18 kills, 10 blocks and 12 digs... A four-year honor roll student.
Kelli Christine Lantz was born on July 3, 1982, in Bakersfield, Calif. ... The daughter of Steve and DeeAnn Lantz, she has one brother, Brett, and one sister, Alyssa... Her father, Steve, played basketball at Washington, and brother, Brett, currently plays basketball at UC Davis... Her cousin, Jeff Buckey, played football at Stanford and was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in 1996... A member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and a youth basketball coach in her community... An international relations major.
