Tatiana Kalache enters her first season with the Women of Troy as a walk-on defensive specialist... She attended USC last season but did not play volleyball (and is therefore listed as a redshirt freshman).
HIGH SCHOOL
Kalache is a 2000 graduate of Troy High in Fullerton, Calif. ... Played three years of varsity volleyball as a prep... Honored as the team's MVP as a junior and senior... Garnered first team All-Freeway League honors in 1998 and 1999 while leading the team in kills... Played three years of club volleyball with Impact, two years with Motion, one year with Magnum and one year with Orange County... A four-year scholar-athlete and member of the National Honor Society and California Scholarship Federation.
PERSONAL
Tatiana Kalache was born Nov. 13, 1982 in Beverly Hills, Calif. ... The daughter of Celso and Lucy Kalache, she has one sister, Jessica (14)... Her family has a rich athletic history... Her father was an All-American (1977) and four-time volleyball letterwinner for USC (1973-75)... He helped lead the Trojans to their first men's volleyball NCAA Championship in 1977 and was named the tournament MVP... During this time, Celso was also a member of the Brazilian national team and competed at the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games... Her mother, Lucy, swam for Brazil at the 1972 Olympics... Tatiana speaks five languages fluently and hopes to continue traveling the world after graduation... An international relations major.
