    THIS SEASON: Janae Henry returns for her senior season at outside hitter with the Women of Troy... One of the strongest and most consistent players on the team she is an All-American candidate... Improved her game tremendously and had her best spring ever... If she can continue to improve throughout the season, this year will be a huge success for her.

    IN 1999: As a junior starting outside hitter, Henry played in 107 games and all 30 matches... She led the team and finished second in the Pac-10 by averaging 3.5 digs per game... With a 2.88 career dig average, she is currently fifth on USC's all-time list... Recorded a career-high 24 digs and 57 attacks against Nevada (Sept. 9)... Played one of her best matches with a season-high 21-kill effort (.436) against Oral Roberts (Sept. 17)... Named the UNLV Invitational MVP after averaging 4.3 kills and 4.0 digs per game throughout the tournament... Posted a career-best three aces against Arizona State (Sept. 24), and a team-leading 18 kills against Arizona (Sept. 25)... Led the team against the Bruins (Oct. 13) with 11 kills and 16 digs... Named the USC Athlete of the Week after recording a top performance against Arizona (Oct. 21) with 13 kills off of 30 attacks (.400) and 15 digs... Recorded a career-best five blocks against Washington (Oct. 29)... Led the team in the first round of the NCAAs with 15 kills and 13 digs for her 16th double-double of the season... Named All-Pac-10 honorable mention.

    IN 1998: Henry competed in 25 matches (77 games) for USC as a sophomore... She finished the season with 197 kills, 211 digs and 31 blocks... Posted a career-high 17 kills with 12 digs against Stanford (Nov. 22)... In the match against UCLA (Oct. 30), she recorded 12 kills and 20 digs and a career-high five blocks... She had 14 kills with a career-high 22 digs at the Banker's Classic against Pacific (Nov. 28)... In the second-round NCAA Tournament match against Texas A&M (Dec. 5), she added 12 kills and 11 digs.

    IN 1997: As a freshman, Henry played in 19 matches and 36 games as a reserve outside hitter... On the year, she finished with 25 kills, 54 digs, four aces and seven blocks... She saw her most significant action of the year against Washington (Oct. 24), adding seven kills and 12 digs, both then-career highs... She had four digs and seven kills against Cal State Northridge (Sept. 9)... Played in all three of NCAA matches, playing in five games.

    IN HIGH SCHOOL: Henry is a 1997 graduate of Centennial High in Bakersfield, Calif... Volleyball Magazine's 1996 Player of the Year, she was a founding member of Centennial's girls volleyball team, leading the squad for four years... As a senior, she was a Student Sports All-American, Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 selection, MVP of the CIF Division I Central Section and the Bakersfield Californian all-area Player of the Year... Named a Bakersfield Californian all-area selection in 1994-95 and an all-tournament CIF Division I selection in 1995... Her first Centennial team started at Division IV but went up a rung each year while she was there... As a sophomore, she helped lead Centennial to the Division III Central Section title and finished second at state... In 1995, she led Centennial to section and state titles in Division II and did the same as a senior in Division I... She played for Kern River Volleyball Club under head coach Kelly Hardin for six years, leading her team to the championship of the KAEPA Volleyball Festival, a national club tournament... She also lettered in basketball and softball in 1994-95... She was an honor roll student all four years.

    PERSONAL: Janae Nicole Henry was born on March 31, 1979, in Bakersfield, Calif... The daughter of Bill Henry and Cheryl McMahan, she has one brother, Danny... Her grandfather, Paul Henry, is a USC alum ... She is a former prep teammate of fellow Trojan Kelli Lantz... Hopes to travel the world one day... A social science/education major who would like to teach and coach at the high school level.
