Two Trojan volleyballers honored for their dedication to strength training and conditioning
Brent Metz is in his 10th season (2016) as the strength and conditioning coach for the USC women's volleyball program. Based out of the Galen Center, Metz also works with the men's volleyball team and has previously worked with the men's and women's basketball programs.
Metz has worked with six volleyball final four teams while at USC (women's in 2007, 2010, and 2011; and men's in 2009, 2011, and 2012).
Previously, Metz was at the University of Texas and worked with the women's volleyball and football teams. During his time at Texas, he worked with seven volleyball All-Americans and 28 football players that went on to play in the NFL.
He served as a strength and conditioning intern at Fresno State for all 18 sports before his full-time position at Texas. Before arriving at Fresno State, Metz spent four years teaching and coaching at Everett Alvarez High School in Salinas, Calif.
Metz graduated from Colorado State in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology and a master's in cross-cultural education. He spent five years as a biologist and conducted research for Predatory Bird Research Group at UC Santa Cruz.
Metz currently resides in Pasadena, Calif.
