    No. 12 USC Women's Volleyball Defeats Arizona State At Home

    LOS ANGELES -- The No. 12 USC women's volleyball team defeated Arizona State Saturday night (Nov. 2), 15-7, 15-4, 15-8, in front of 531 at the North Gym.

    USC improved to 15-5 overall, 9-3 in the Pacific-10 Conference. Arizona State fell to 8-11, 3-10.

    USC was led by senior outside hitter Vesna Dragicevic's 22 kills and sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Kessy's 20 kills. Sophomore setter Janice Mounts had 49 assists and a match-high 20 digs.

    Arizona State was led by junior Terri Cox's 15 kills and 18 digs and sophomore Jennifer Lucero's 13 kills.

    USC jumped ahead 8-0 in Game 1. Arizona State crept back in, outscoring USC, 6-3, but the Women of Troy scored 4 of the game's last 5 points for the Game 1 win.

    USC opened a quick lead in Game 2 as well, going up 8-1. Arizona State got as close as 9-4, but the Women of Troy scored 6 consecutive points to finish off the game.

    Game 3 was the closest of the match as Arizona State trailed only 9-8 at one point. But USC again scored 6 consecutive points to polish off the undermanned Sun Devils and take the match.

    USC next travels to Washington to face the Huskies in Seattle on Fri. (Nov. 8), followed by a match in Pullman on Sat. (Nov. 9) against Washington State. Arizona State next plays at Arizona on Nov. 8 in Tucson.
