No. 12 USC Volleyball Defeated 3-1 by No. 3 Stanford

    LOS ANGELES -- The USC volleyball team's four-game winning streak was snapped Friday night when it was defeated 15-11, 11-15, 16-14, on Friday night at Maples Pavilion.

    With the match tied at a game apiece, the Trojans jumped out to a 13-8 lead in game three. But the Cardinal recorded eight of the game's final nine points - surviving five game points in the prqcess to win 16-14.

    Game four was all Stanford as the Cardinal jumped out to a 9-4 lead behind the service of Kerri Walsh. Stanford eventually put the match away on a crosscourt kill by junior Debbie Lambert.

    The Trojans, who came into the match in second place in the Pac-10, received 17 kills from sophomore Jennifer Kessy and 40 assists and 15 digs from sophomore Janice Mounts.

    For Stanford, junior Kristin Folkl had 18 kills and 15 digs and junior Lisa Sharpley added 60 assists.

    USC continues its Bay-area road swing when it takes on Cal in Berkeley Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
