USC's men's and women's tennis teams will be well represented at the prestigious ITA National Indoor Championships this week, with four singles players and two doubles teams in the mix for national titles in New York. After a title sweep at the women's ITA Southwest Regional Championships last month, USC's single champ Zoë Scandalis and doubles champs Giuliana Olmos and Gabby Smith punched their tickets into the women's draws in New York. Olmos, too, will compete in singles as an at-large berth recipient. On the men's side, ITA All-American singles finalist Yannick Hanfmann and ITA Southwest Regional singles finalist Jonny Wang and locked into the men's singles draw. In doubles, All-American finalists Hanfmann and Roberto Quiroz are set up with a doubles slot as well.

Action begins at the USTA National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y., on Thursday (Nov. 6) and runs through the championship matches on Sunday (Nov. 9). Hosted by Columbia University, the event features a 32-player singles draw and a 20-team doubles draw for men and women.

Gaining automatic entry into the tournament are champions from the USTA/ITA Division I Regional Championships held across the country in October, winners of the USTA/ITA National Small College Super Bowl, and the consolation champions, doubles finalists, men's singles quarterfinalists and women's singles semifinalists from the ITA Men's and Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships.

For senior Zoë Scandalis, this year marks her fourth trip to New York for the event. Currently ranked #15 in the nation in singles, she competed in the singles draw in 2011 and 2012 and in doubles in 2012 and 2013. Her deepest run was last year's doubles semifinal appearance alongside Olmos. That was Olmos' first appearance at the ITA National Indoors, and this year marks her first singles competition at the event, ranked #38 in the land in singles. Olmos' doubles partner this year, Gabby Smith, will be making her first trip to New York as a freshman.

In the men's realm, senior Yannick Hanfmann is the New York veteran of the bunch. He played doubles in 2012 and was in the singles draw last year. Now ranked as the #2 singles player in the nation and #19 in doubles with partner Roberto Quiroz, Hanfmann is looking to make deep runs at the event in his senior campaign. He's the No. 2 seed in the singles draw and the top seed in doubles with Quiroz. This will be senior Quiroz' first trip to the tournament, and it also marks a career first for fellow senior Jonny Wang, who ranks #39 in the nation in singles.

The last Trojans to win singles titles at the ITA National Indoor Championships were Maria Sanchez on the women's side in 2010 and Steve Johnson on the men's side in 2009. In 2011 and 2012, USC's Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria won back-to-back doubles championships at the event. The USC men have twice finished as doubles finalists, back in 2007 and 2008, but have not yet captured the crown.
