The USC men's and women's tennis teams combine forces as a powerful contingent heading into this year's ITA National Indoor Championships, with six Trojans shoving off for competition in New York this week. Four Women of Troy and two Trojan men are lined up to compete, including a pair of automatic qualifiers in ITA Southwest Regional singles champions Sabrina Santamaria and Ray Sarmiento. They'll be joined by top-20 teammates Daniel Nguyen, Danielle Lao, Kaitlyn Christian and Zoe Scandalis for a full slate of play at the USTA-Bille Jean King National Tennis Center from Nov. 3-6.

Meanwhile, back in California, the rest of the USC men and women will spread out to two different tournaments. Women of Troy Gabriella DeSimone, Valeria Pulido and Alison Ramos are off to Palm Springs for the Desert Classic, while USC men's players Emilio Gomez, Yannick Hanfmann, Eric Johnson, Corey Smith and Jonny Wang will engage in action at the Southern California Intercollegiate Championships in Westwood.

Out at the ITA National Indoors, the USC women have three players in the singles draw as well as a doubles team. The Women of Troy are looking to follow up former teammate Maria Sanchez' run to the 2010 singles championship and make it back-to-back titles for USC. Ranked #16 in the nation, junior Danielle Lao is making her second trip to the ITA National Indoors, joined by two Trojan freshmen, Sabrina Santamaria and Zoe Scandalis, who are both coming off powerful runs at the Southwest Regionals in which Santamaria topped Scandalis in the singles title match. Santamaria will do double duty out in New York as well, teaming back up with sophomore Kaitlyn Christian for doubles play. The pair ranks #18 in the nation in doubles and reached the final of the ITA Southwest Regionals. On the men's side, senior Daniel Nguyen and sophomore Ray Sarmiento are making their first trips to the ITA National Indoors. Nguyen ranks #16 in the nation in singles, and teammate Sarmiento is #15 with the recent ITA Southwest Regional singles championship tucked under his belt.
