Freshman Amanda Fink Captures 2005 ITA Women's Western Regional Singles Title|

USC women's tennis freshman Amanda Fink clinched the 2005 Wilson/ITA Western Regional title on Monday, (Oct. 24) with five wins at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. With her performance, Fink earned a bid to the 2005 ITA National Indoor Championships to be hosted by Ohio State, Nov. 3-6. She now boasts a 14-1 record after the weekend's tournament.
Fink who was the No. 1 seed in the regional tournament, won five matches in the four-day event to claim the championship. In the finals she defeated No. 2 seed Elena Gantcheva of UNLV on Monday morning, 6-4, 6-1.
This is the second year in a row a Trojan freshman has competed for the ITA Western Regional Championship. In 2004 Lindsey Nelson competed for the title but fell to Riza Zalameda of UCLA.
