Members of the USC women's tennis team are all lined up to make moves toward tournament titles this week as the Women of Troy head to Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego to do singles and doubles battle at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships. USC's blend of veteran and young talent has been growing stronger throughout these early goings of the season. Now, the Women of Troy have a chance to break out and make a statement as they set up to swarm regional competition this week. Action begins tomorrow (Oct. 16) and runs through Oct. 20.

USC is packing the singles scene with six Women of Troy raring to go. Highest ranked of the bunch, senior Zoë Scandalis comes in at #15 in the nation and is aiming for a deep run this week. USC's #38 Giuliana Olmos, #59 Zoë Katz and #106 Gabriella DeSimone are also lined up for singles play, along with freshmen Gabby Smith and Meredith Xepoleas.

In the doubles realm, there are three brand-new USC pairings in store. Sophomore Zoë Katz and Zoë Scandalis are teaming up, with Katz looking to make another run to the doubles final after having done so last season with now-graduated Brynn Boren. Junior Giuliana Olmos will do battle alongside freshman Gabby Smith, and senior Gabriella DeSimone will join forces with freshman Meredith Xepoleas.

USC last won a regional title in 2012, when Danielle Lao and Valeria Pulido claimed the doubles championship. The last Trojan to win the singles title was Sabrina Santamaria as a freshman in 2011.

Draws for the 2014 ITA Southwest Regional Championships in San Diego have yet to be posted. When finalized, they will be posted HERE.
